Hi everyone!
It’s been a while since I posted a blog, In this blog I’ll be explaining what I’m going to be doing over the next few months.
I’ll start by talking about the current state of my Immorality EP.
Sadly, I have decided to put the EP to one side for a few months.
Just until May, which is when my final assignments for the year are due to be submitted. (That isn’t the only reason why I’ve pushed it back)
My reasons are…
I originally intended for the EP to just contain four tracks, but I’ve recorded demos of each song and it just doesn’t feel complete.
I feel like there is something missing, especially since Morality contains seven tracks.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time and I think I know what the EP needs.
I don’t want to say what is is yet, but I have an idea for a song which is nothing like anything I’ve done before. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m going to experiment and see what happens.
In regards to my third reason, my records, Era and Morality, haven’t been out for very long. Era was released last year in October and Morality was released at the end of last month.
They’re still at the beginning of their journey and they’re just starting to reach the people who are interested in hearing them.
Immorality is the “other half” of Morality, and it seems a bit silly to release it so soon after the first half.
Surely, It’s understandable that I’d love for my music to reach as many people as possible, but it seems that the only way I can do that is if I give it a chance to find it’s way.
My original plan was to release Immorality in March or April, but now I’m planning for an early summer release.

Hi everyone!
It’s been a really long time since I’ve written a blog on here, this is just an update regarding what’s happening in regards to the EPs I keep talking about.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish the EPs in time for the end of 2012 like I had originally planned, but they will be released in 2013.
As I’ve mentioned in earlier blogs, I’ve been working on two EPs.
They have the working titles of Morality and Immorality.
I’m hoping to release Morality by the end of January, and I hope to release Immorality in February or March.
This is may change, but as of now, Morality features five songs and Immorality features four songs.
They are all brand new songs!
Morality features an extended and “produced” version of The Flame; an acoustic version of this song was released on my SoundCloud page earlier this year.
Similarly to Era earlier this year, both of these EPs will be released and available to download on my bandcamp page.
After the release of these records, I don’t really have anything else planned as of now.
I’ve got lots of ideas for new projects though, so I’ll keep you all updated!
Era is still available to download if you haven’t got it yet!
You can stream it in full and download it from my bandcamp page!
I may or may not post another blog before the end of 2012, so I want to wish you all a happy holidays and a happy new year in advance!
I also want to say a big thank you to all those who have supported me this year!
I’m eternally grateful to you!
Thank you so much for reading this blog, please check out my music if you haven’t already done so!
Thanks,
Josh :-)
Hi everybody!
For anybody out there that actually follows my blogs, I’m so sorry that It’s been so long!
However, I suppose the fact that I’ve not found time to write blogs more frequently shows that I’ve been busy working on music, which at the end of the day is the most important thing.
Anyway, I have nothing but good news to talk about in this blog!
EP number 1 is shaping up very nicely.
Instrumentals for Are We Right Or Wrong? and The Flame are now complete, all that is left for me to do on them is record vocals.
The Flame was formally known as Fire In Your Eye; I may still change that title.
I think I mentioned in my last blog that the instrumental of The Flame (Acoustic) is complete, that also just needs vocals.
I’ve decided that I like my fourth attempt at Sense Of Morality, I’m currently working on producing that song.
I’m going to re-record my vocals for Waiting On The Park Bench and the demo for Stars is complete, I’m currently developing synth sounds for that track.
I’ve been thinking about names for both of the EPs, I think EP 1 will be called Amorality and EP 2 will be called Immorality, but those may still change.
I think I’ve discussed this briefly before, both of the records seem to go hand in hand with each other in terms of lyrical themes.
However, musically there are many differences between them.
The lyrics on the majority of the songs on both records are much less personal than my other songs, they focus more on the lives on other people.
Particularly the decisions that people often make during their lives, which cause the people around them to question that person’s morals.
I’ve been working on a (sort of) new track!
If you have been following my blogs for a long time, you may already know about this.
Shortly after I released my first songs last year, I released a preview of a track that was going to be included on an EP that I planned to release late last year.
I then lost the willpower to put the finishing touches on that EP due to it sounding so out of date compared to what I had already released and I think the quality of writing and production greatly lacked compared to what I had already released, so I gave up.
For those who don’t know, The vast majority of that EP was written and recorded up to two years before I actually released any music.
The track I previewed was a song called Falls Apart, and it seemed to get a pretty good reception from those who heard it. I thought it would be a shame to let that track go to waste (as it’s one of the only songs from that EP that doesn’t make me cringe!) so I decided to re-visit the track and record a brand new version of the song.
All of the instrumental is complete, and I think it sounds really amazing!
The only thing left for me to do is record vocals, once they are done the song shall be released for free download!
I think it sound much better than my original, if you heard the preview then hopefully those who heard the preview will think the same.
I plan to get all of the instrumentals done for all of the songs I’m currently working first, as that is really the time consuming part, then I’m going to spend a few days record all of the vocals!
Last week, my collaboration with my friend Posh Boy was finally released!
It is currently available to download, absolutely free of charge, from my SoundCloud profile.
I sing vocals, play piano and wrote lyrics on the song.
Posh Boy wrote the music and produced the track.
Please listen to the track, download it and share it with your friends

That’s all I have to say now, thank you so much for reading this blog!
Please be sure to listen to my music if you haven’t already done so!

Hi everybody!
Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on a number of things.
I’ve been working on a track for my album, which at the moment has the working title of Morph. The song is one I wrote fairly recently, but it has become a personal favourite out of the songs I’ve written so far.
It is an upbeat electropop song about a person who is trying to be something they’re not. The demo is coming along quite nicely, though it’s not quite ready yet.
I have really high hopes for the song, I’m very proud of the lyrics and music and I can’t wait for you to hear it.
I also recently wrote two new songs, one of those songs is called I hope I’m doing something right and the other is called Sense Of Morality.
I hope I’m doing something right is a down tempo electropop song about personal insecurities. This song is still in the very early stages and I’m not sure what to do with it yet.
Sense Of Morality is a bit more developed, but I’m not sure what direction to go in with this song yet. I’m very proud of the lyrics as they are much more political than anything I’ve ever written before. The basic theme of the song is the effects any kind of discrimination can have on a person emotionally.
I really hope that this song can appear on EP 1, the concept of that record has changed from Optimism to Morality. I can imagine that I shall change the concept of EP 2 soon, I’ll let you know if I do that.
I’ll also let you know when I work on those songs a bit more.
Thank you so much for reading this blog, please be sur eto check out the other “My Music” blogs and my songs if you haven’t already done so!
Thanks,
Josh :)
Hi everybody!
I’ve spent the majority of this week working on a song I wrote a while ago called “New Life”.
The song is probably one of my favourite songs out of everything I’ve written so far.
When I originally wrote it, I played a very early demo for my sister and she seemed to really love it.
On Friday I produced a demo of the track on Pro Tools, and I think it’ll sound really great when it’s complete.
The song to me sounds very simple, yet very complex at the same time.
I think the music is really beautiful, I particularly like the drum beat as it has a “marching band” feel to it.
However, I recorded demo vocals for the track today and listening back to it made me realise that I needed to make a few changes to the lyrics.
The song originally was about rebellion, in the case of my point of view I was rebelling against people who believe that they can push other people around.
Like I have done with some of my other songs, I wrote it in an ambiguous style so that the listener to interpret the songs to reflect what they are feeling at that time.
I was aware when I wrote it that the record could easily be seen as being a political song, which was fine by me, I love songs that discuss political views.
The problem that came with “New Life” was that I realised that, if the song were to be looked at in a political sense, then the song seemed to be promoting a political stance that I don’t personally believe in.
So because of this I didn’t not feel it was write to sing some of the lyrics in the song as I believe that it’s important that I always sing about things I believe in.
I have re-written parts of the song, it is now a song that supports activism for peace. I think it sounds much better now, I feel much more comfortable singing it and I cannot wait for you all to hear it!
That’s all I have to say this week, thank you so much for reading this blog!
Please be sure to check out my music and to read the “my music” blogs if you haven’t already done so!
Thanks,
Josh :)
Hi everybody!
This is going to be quite a short blog unfortunately as I haven’t had time to do much this week due to having tons of coursework!
However, I’m on my half-term so I have a week off from college with no coursework to do so I should have plenty of time to work on my music this week!
On Friday I began working on a new song which at the moment has the working title of Connect The Dots. It’s the first song of mine to feature the Tenori-On, which I bought with the money I was given as a present for my birthday earlier this year. The Tenori-On plays the main riff in the song, so it has quite a prominent part in the track.
At first, I wasn’t to keen on the song, but I kept working on it and I’m now beginning to really like it. It’s a bit more personal than the stuff you’ve heard so far. So far I’ve written the first verse and the chorus and I plan to finish the rest as soon as possible. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the song yet, but I think it will be a free download track.
I cannot wait for you to hear it!
Today I decided to continue working on the acoustic version of one of my free download songs, I can now reveal that the track I’ve recorded an acoustic version of is I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You.
Listen to and download the original for free HERE!!!
I chose this song because it sounded lovely when I originally wrote it, with just me and a piano, and it’s one of the most meaningful songs out of the six free download songs that I’ve released so far.
I recorded each track in the acoustic version 100% live, this is the first of my studio recordings to feature no MIDI sequencing! The track just features piano, vocals and a synth cello.
Even though there is a few minor mistakes in the recording, I’m really proud of how it turned out. I also recorded the vocals in this version in just one take!
I did make a major mistake in timing in this version, as I sang one line two bars too early and then improvised some of it afterwards. I decided to leave this in as it surprisingly works really well and it gives a “live” feel to the recording.
I played the mistake to my sister as well and she thought it sounded very good.
There are still a few things left on the track that need tweaking regarding sound levels, but I should be releasing that version for free download later this week!
I’ll let you know when I do that.
Thank you so much for reading this blog, please be sure to read the other “My Music” blogs if you haven’t already done so and please check out my music and download my free download songs!!!
Thanks,
Josh :)
Hi everybody!
This week I have a couple of things which I will talk about.
First of all, I’ve started to work on a remix of my song Falls Apart. I did mention a few months ago that I was working on a remix of that song, but I decided to scrap that mix because I didn’t like it.
To be honest, I’m not really happy with this new mix right now. I’ve never really done a remix of a song before, so I’m finding it difficult. Although, I’ve not really had a good idea for the remix yet. I’m sure that as soon as an idea comes to me, I’ll be able to produce an amazing remix of the song.

Full length song coming soon!!!
Because I’m a geek, I decided to make a bunch of charts to show me what stage I am up to with the creation of each musical project that I’m working on. I did this when I made the free download songs and my first EP.
I’ve made charts for my first full length album, my second EP and other songs.
Looking at my projects in chart form has really helped me understand what I need to do in order to complete each project.
The chart I’ve made for my album has made me see that my album has a good “shape” to it, if that makes sense. The chart shows that my album now has a beginning, a middle and an end. So all I’m really doing write now is writing songs that fit perfectly in between.
I only have one song left to record from my first EP, which is Highway Road. Then I’m going to re-record Take It All For Granted. Then it shall finally be complete!
I wrote that EP when I was 16, but I never recorded it because I didn’t have the equipment. I plan to finish the recording later this week, then all I need to do is take the photograph for the cover then I can finally release it.
I’ll release Falls Apart as the lead singlefirst, then I’ll release the EP. They’ll be the first thing I’ll be selling online, but I promise that they will not be expensive!
I keep saying this but I would also love to do a live show in promotion for the EP. I’ll let you know if I ever get to do that.
I cannot wait for you all to hear the EP!
I spent most of the day being photographed by my sister. She took some pretty amazing photographs!
I’ve uploaded two of them on here already, but there’s more to come!

Hi everybody!
This week I haven’t done very much with my music unfortunately, due to just not having enough time. However, I have done a few things.
On Thursday, I wrote a brand new song which I’ve fallen deeply in love with. At the moment, the song has the working title of “What I Really Want” and I think it’s incredible. Possibly the best song I’ve written so far!
I’ve demoed the song and it’s piano and vocals, though I don’t think the final version will be like that.
The song is a fairly down-tempo song and it has quite a moody sound to it, which I think is quite different compared to my other songs. Though the song is very personal and lyrically it’s very honest and interesting. I played the demo of the song to my sister and I explained my ideas for how it’s going to sound when it’s complete, but she suggested that I take a completely approach to the song and use her idea. The song is still in the very early stages and I don’t know exactly what I want to do with it yet, but I’ll discuss the song further when it’s more developed.
Today I demoed a new idea for a piece of music, it’s very upbeat and cheery, the total opposite to “What I Really Want” and I really love that. It has no lyrics yet, so I don’t know what will happen to the song in the future. I’ve noticed lately that I keep writing instrumental ideas and no lyrics, so I need to start working on lyrics more.
I’ve also used all of my old/spare recording equipment to set up a tiny demo studio in my bedroom, so now If it’s late at night and an idea suddenly comes to me, I don’t have to run to my “shed/studio” and set everything up. I can just demo it in my bedroom then work on it properly later. So hopefully I’ll be writing even more stuff now as I can jott down my ideas right away!
Tomorrow I have my Music Technology AS level exam. I’ve been revising for it regularly, so fingers crossed that that I’ll pass with a good grade!
Wish me luck!
That’s all I’ve got to say now, please be sure to check out the other “My Music” blogs and my songs if you haven’t already done so!
Thanks,
Josh :)
Hi everybody!
This week I released two brand new songs, which are called “Couple On Show” and “I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You”. Both songs are available to listen to and to download free of charge by clicking HERE!
I also wrote explanations for the inspirations behind the songs which can be read by clicking HERE!
I’m really proud of the songs and I hope that you all love them! Please listen to and download the songs.
I’ve finally recorded vocals for “You’re Not For Me”, however, I’m going to re-record the second verse as there is a few minor changes I’ve made to the lyrics.
After I’ve done that, I just need to record vocals for ”Highway Road” then the EP I wrote almost two years ago will be complete!
I plan to release that later this year, but I’d like to sell that instead of putting it up for free download. There is eight songs on it, and I promise that it won’t cost more than a few pounds.
I’m going to try to build a bigger fan-base before I release it though, so if you want to hear it please tell your friends and family to listen to me! :)
I’m also going to release “Falls Apart” as my debut single (from the EP) which shall be released as soon as the EP is complete and hopefully my fan-base will have grown a bit more.
A short preview of “Falls Apart” can be heard HERE!
I’m also going to look into performing a “one-off” show in a club somewhere as my own little gig supporting the record, it’ll be my first ever live show. I doubt i’ll be able to do that though, but I’ll let you know if I do manage to work something it.
I’m also going to start work on a new EP, and I’ll continue to release more free download songs along the way.
I haven’t made too many decisions about my second EP yet, all I know right now is that there will be four or five tracks, ”Waiting On The Park Bench” will be on there along with an alternative version of “Colours”, which is a song I’ve written for my full-length album. I’ll let you know more about that when I’ve decided exactly what I’m doing.
Today I also started writing a new song, which I’ve named “Devil In Your Dreams”. I rather like it, it’s quite dark and aggressive, so I think it’s really different for me!
I haven’t yet finished the song, but I’ll let you know how the writing process goes!
Thank you so much for reading this blog, please be sure to read the other “My Music” blogs if you haven’t already done so! Please check out my songs and download all of them from the links above FREE OF CHARGE!!!
Thanks,

Hi everybody!
I’m really happy to say that “Couple On Show” and “I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You” are now 100% complete and ready for release!!!
I cannot wait for you to hear them, I’m really proud of the songs and I hope that you all love them!
They shall be released later this week, as soon as they’re out, I’ll post a blog that contains links to the songs.
I’ve already discussed the sound of “Couple On Show”, as I wrote about it in my previous blog.
So I’ll just talk about “I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You” in this blog.
“I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You” is a far more personal song than “Couple On Show”. Both songs share a similar tempo and mood. ICSWSAY isn’t as ”produced” as “Couple On Show”, though I do experiment heavily with delays and lightly with pitch-bending. ICSWSAY has a slighly more “raw” sound in the vocals. In the song, I sing some of my lowest and highest notes within my range. I sing a very low backing vocal during the chorus and I use my falsetto range in the background of the final chorus. The song is also my longest free download song (so far) and one of the longest songs I’ve written, the song is 4:56. I write about the subject maatter in more detail in the Inspiration behind my songs blog when the song is released, same goes for “Couple On Show”.
That’s all I’ve got to say this week, thanks for reading this blog!
Please by sure to check out the other “My Music” blogs if you haven’t already done so and please check out my songs!
Thanks,
Josh :)
Hi everybody!
(I’m sorry about this blog being a day late!)
I’m pleased to say that Couple On Show is complete, and I’m really happy with it!
I personally thing that the track is my best production so far, as I’ve really experimented with effects on this and I think it sounds like a much more convincing piece of electronic music than my earlier work.
In the song I really experiment with vocal stutters, pitch bending, delays and other effects and I personally think it sounds great. This is also the first song I’ve produced in Pro Tools, I’m reallys starting to understand the software now.
As soon as I get a bit of free time, I’m going to re-record the vocals for I Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You, as soon as that is complete, I will release both songs as two new free download songs!
Yesterday I also discovered that my Pro Tools disc came with Melodyne Essential and Torq LE.
Melodyne is a pitch correction software, which may come in useful for creating interesting effects some day and Torq LE is a DJ software.
I’m going to start using the software so I can start making DJ sets, which would be pretty cool!
Thank you for reading this blog, please be sure to listen to my music if you haven’t already done so and please read the other “My Music” blog if you haven’t already done so!
